You will need appx 2oz of a solid color yarn, be careful if your color is too dark (ie: black) or too bright (ie: neon yellow) as these types of colors can sometimes make the picture harder to recognize.

Needle size is your preference. I tend to use a US3 since I am a loose knitter and this helps my picture to pop up a little more.
